You know the saying: Everything is bigger in Texas. Same goes for the fun. For those traveling with kids, the Lone Star State boasts larger-than-life amusement parks, a water park you can have a sleepover in, plus interesting spots that are as educational as they are fun.
Slumber in a Treehouse at Schlitterbahn
A lengthy tube ride at Schlitterbahn’s New Braunfels outpost makes a grand finale exit in the bordering Comal River, putting a fun nature twist on the water park experience. In all, Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts has four locations in Texas. But the New Braunfels site is a favorite for families looking for a weekend retreat. The massive park is broken into two sections, with a shuttle that runs between them. The western portion is the original park with tube rides galore. To the east is a newer section of the park, complete with a water roller coaster and a surf simulator. (It’s worth mentioning that parents will find a swim-up bar.) Plus, luxe lofted treehouses are available to rent so families can have a slumber party inside the actual water park.
