ABOUT SCHLITTERBAHN CORPUS CHRISTI
Riverpark. Resort. Restaurant. And even a Dive In!
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi is a family entertainment destination on the island a mile from the beach. The property has something for everyone:
Riverpark? Yes! Riverpark!
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi is called a RIVERpark for good reason – we have the most extensive, action-filled river system in the world. We have five types of rivers here: A wave river, a momentum river, a swim channel, an action river, and river tube chutes. Unlike any other park in the world, our rivers are all interconnected and there are 16 beaches throughout to allow zero entry access — with NO lines. It’s part of our patented Transportainment® system. The system includes nearly two miles of river, but if you combine tubing of all the rivers in every possible way, you could tube for seven miles!
The largest rivers in the system are:
The Tidal Wave River: Over 900 feet of wave generated fun!
The Kristal River: 750 feet of swiftly moving water in this classic momentum river.
Blitz Falls: Filled with rapids and falls – this river is like tubing on a real river!
Other river sections include The Deluge, Comal Pass, the Cliff Hanger, and Rio Aventura.
Based on the very first inland surfing ride (that was invented at Schlitterbahn), the Boogie Bahn is the first waterpark attraction that guests can get better on with practice. The surfing path is 20 feet wide with 50,000 gallons of water per minute shooting out to form a thin sheet to surf on.
Bahn Bay Blasters & Sky Blaster
Two blaster towers deliver all kinds of fun! Sky blaster is 60 feet high and 385 feet long and offers a great view of the Boogie Bahn. The twin Bahn and Bay Blasters allow guests to race each other to the splash zone. These 33-foot tall twin blasters are right in between the launch and landing zone of the Shoot the Chute.
Kiddie splash zones
The littlest guests at Schlitterbahn can divide their time between Lil Skippers and Buccaneer Bay. Kids can enjoy a splashing good time on our ship, the CC Corpus Christi, slide down the butterfly wings, or get soaked in the mushroom fountains.
Dive In Movies
Known as the Loggerhead Dive In, movies are available on select weekend on our Freedom Stage. Dry in the cold weather and floating fun in the summer, the Dive-In adds fun family-friendly entertainment to the island.
There is so much to do in Corpus Christi that we know you’ll want to stay and explore! And our Resort has a dizzying array of rooms to choose from and multiple ways a guest can configure a room from a standard hotel room to full suites. In addition, we have venue and event space perfect for everything from a comfortable board retreat to a beautiful island wedding.
The Resort also features a driving range and putting green, tennis courts, a workout facility, and a heated pool as well as the Pour Haus Lounge, a bar with pool tables and gathering space.
Restaurant – The Veranda Bar and Grill
The award-winning Veranda Bar and Grill in beautiful Corpus Christi features a wide array of Gulf and Texas-style specialties. Whether you’re in the mood for a Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, a seasoned and grilled ribeye or a platter of Bahnditos (our amazing twist on nachos), the Veranda will delight your taste buds. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Mr. Bob and Miss Billye, our founders, were committed to creating a place where families could gather. So there are a few things that Schlitterbahn focuses on which can be summed up as: No nickel and dime pricing, provide places to linger, and safety first. We don’t charge for parking or tubes and let people bring in a picnic (no nickel and dime pricing), we have 700 picnic tables (places to linger), and we keep our pools and rivers shallow and have the best training program for our lifeguards (safety).
Schlitterbahn is a place of firsts: the first uphill water coaster. The first inland surfing ride. The first wave river. The first swim-up bar (we think). The first river fed tubing rides (our fav is the Raging River). The first water playgrounds with soft surfaces (our fav is Kiddie Coast).
Schlitterbahn supports over 700 charities around the state and around the country each year through generous ticket and lodging contributions. In addition Schlitterbahn supports literacy through our Waves of Pages program where we work with elementary school librarians to reward reading. Schlitterbahn also has a number of Charities of Choice including the Coastal Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, various races, and special events in our community.
Schlitterbahn’s commitment to the environment is long-standing. From the way the original park was designed to flow among trees, to the commitment to water conservation (98% of the water is recycled through filtration), to maintaining recycling containers throughout the parks, Schlitterbahn believes in sustainability. Our parks and resorts utilize a great deal of Loblolly Pine – all of which was saved from the chipper after the devastating Bastrop Complex Fire. We also use reclaimed ropes, ship elements, and even scrap from the building process to theme our parks.
The unique character of the park has led amusement park fans to vote Schlitterbahn the “World’s Best Waterpark” twenty-one years in a row as well as accolades for safety and ride innovation. Our chef’s in the Veranda have won “Taste of Corpus Christi” many times for everything from our amazing bread pudding to our Banging Shrimp. Check out the full list of our awards!
Schlitterbahn, which means “slippery road” in German, opened by the Henry family in 1979 with four water slides starting from a German-style tower. The tower was patterned after the Bergfried Guard Tower at Solms Castle in Braunfels, Germany – home of the original settlers of New Braunfels. The Henry family added the tower and the slides on a hill next to their resort, known back then as Landa Resort. The Henry family has continued to innovate, creating new ways to have fun with water that are imitated throughout the industry. More History.
