ABOUT SCHLITTERBAHN NEW BRAUNFELS
Four Adventures – One Waterpark
Any single section of Schlitterbahn is as large as most regional waterparks – but with four areas to choose from, guests can enjoy a wild variety of water themed attractions in this world class water theme park. Every section contains a swim-up bar, children’s area, and a unique signature attraction. Free Parking and Picnics: At Schlitterbahn parking is free for everyone. Schlitterbahn guests can bring a picnic from home (no glass or alcohol please) and there is plenty of seating (700 picnic tables). There is no charge for tubes, life vests, or boogie boards.
The Original Schlitterbahn: Home to the signature Schlitterbahn Castle, this section of the park uses spring-fed water from the Comal River. Nestled beneath a beautiful canopy of trees, this section of the park has eight tube chutes, seven kids’ play areas, a wave pool, and swim-up bars with heated pools. On the wild side: the Down Hill Racer and the Soda Straws. On the mild side: the Raging River and the Congo.
Surfenburg: Named for the world’s first surfing wave invented 27 years ago, the Boogie Bahn, Surfenburg is also home to the first uphill water coaster, The Dragon’s Revenge – invented 25 years ago. Also in Surfenburg: the Kristal River which circles Squirt’n Sliden, a giant kids’ play area.
Blastenhoff: The most award-winning attraction in Schlitterbahn history, the Master Blaster, is located in this section. Using patented water injection technology, the Master Blaster starts at the top of a six-story tower in Blastenhoff. (Two other rides also take off from the same tower.) Surrounding the “Blast Tower” is the Torrent Wave River – which combines an endless river with a wave pool for unlimited fun.
Tubenbach: Tubenbach features the award-winning ride The Falls, the world’s longest tubing adventure (voted number one by our fans in 2018). The Tubenbach area features several no-wait attractions and beaches allowing park guests to enjoy the rides without standing in line. Also, several of the Tubenbach attractions are interconnected through an innovative Transportainment® river, which allows guests to float their way throughout the Tubenbach area.
Overall, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has four times the rides and attractions of any waterpark within 200 miles, and twice the number of attractions of any waterpark within 500 miles. Our naturally landscaped park with hundred-year-old oak, cedar, and cypress trees creates a completely different experience from the typical “hard-scaped” waterparks. We call those hard waterparks “stairs, cement, and slides” versus Schlitterbahn’s rivers, trees, and rides.
The original lodging and waterpark combo, the Resort at Schlitterbahn is over 50 years old (older than the waterpark) and has the most varied room types of any of the three Schlitterbahn resort properties. Nestled along the banks of the Comal River, the Resort has a distinct Texas Hill Country style with vacation homes, traditional hotel rooms, upscale Tree Hauses and lofts, as well as condominium style lodging available year round.

Select Saturdays in 2019 Rock the Bahn Concert Series
The Rock the Bahn Music festival will be held on select Saturdays in July and August with a new musical act taking stage every week. The concerts take place in the Lagoon Activity Pool area from noon to 4 p.m. with chances to win prizes throughout the day.
Mr. Bob and Miss Billye, our founders, were committed to creating a place where families could gather. So there are a few things that Schlitterbahn focuses on which can be summed up as: No nickel and dime pricing, provide places to linger, and safety first. We don’t charge for parking or tubes and let people bring in a picnic (no nickel and dime pricing), we have 700 picnic tables (places to linger), and we keep our pools and rivers shallow and have the best training program for our lifeguards (safety).
Schlitterbahn is a place of firsts: the first uphill water coaster. The first inland surfing ride. The first wave river. The first swim-up bar (we think). The first river fed tubing rides (our fav is the Raging River). The first water playgrounds with soft surfaces (our fav is Kiddie Coast).
Schlitterbahn supports over 700 charities around the state and around the country each year through generous ticket and lodging contributions. In addition, Schlitterbahn supports literacy through our Waves of Pages program where we work with elementary school librarians to reward reading. Schlitterbahn also has a number of Charities of Choice including the Sunshine Kids, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Communities in Schools, Colin’s Hope, and our staff family volunteers for our local food bank, various races, and special events in our community.
Schlitterbahn’s commitment to the environment is long-standing. From the way the original park was designed to flow among trees, to the commitment to water conservation (98% of the water is recycled through filtration), to maintaining recycling containers throughout the parks, Schlitterbahn believes in sustainability. Our parks and resorts utilize a great deal of Loblolly Pine – all of which was saved from the chipper after the devastating Bastrop Complex Fire. We also use reclaimed ropes, ship elements, and even scrap from the building process to theme our parks.
The unique character of the park has led amusement park fans to vote Schlitterbahn New Braunfels the “World’s Best Waterpark” twenty-one years in a row. The park’s six-story Master Blaster® Uphill Water Coaster has been voted the “World’s Best Waterpark Ride” repeatedly. The park also won the “World’s Best New Waterpark Ride” Award for the Dragon’s Revenge Water Coaster (2008), the Congo River Expedition heavily themed jungle ride (2009), and most recently The Falls, the world’s longest tubing adventure (2011). Check out the full list of our awards!
Schlitterbahn, which means “slippery road” in German, opened by the Henry family in 1979 with four water slides starting from a German-style tower. The tower was patterned after the Bergfried Guard Tower at Solms Castle in Braunfels, Germany – home of the original settlers of New Braunfels. The Henry family added the tower and the slides on a hill next to their resort, known back then as Landa Resort. The Henry family has continued to innovate, creating new ways to have fun with water that are imitated throughout the industry. More History.
Schlitterbahn has expanded the number of available cabanas (we like to call them caBAHNas) to include everything from BBQ palapas to super-sized cabanas suitable for 24 people to share. Luxury cabanas with mini-fridges and TVs are available.
Onsite High-End Lodging
Schlitterbahn operates a 220 room lodging facility with over 68 distinct room types – part of the benefits of a property that has grown up in a historic neighborhood. Among the rooms available are upscale contemporary lofts and beautiful Tree Hauses suites, all of which are along the banks of the Comal River.
