Schlitterbahn Waterpark Kansas City joined forces with Harvesters – The Community Food Network to collect food items for those in need of a meal this summer. The park became a drop off location for Harvester’s Summer Splash Food Drive where members of the local community were encouraged to donate five or more nonperishable food items. In return for their generosity guests were awarded with a Schlitterbahn buy one ticket, get one free coupon that is valid throughout the rest of the season.
Harvester’s Summer Splash Food Drive was held Monday, July 10 – 14 onsite and Schlitterbahn Waterpark Kansas City, with the help of the local community, provided 1, 488 meals to those in need this summer.
Throughout the week 497 lbs of food were brought to the park and $357.79 were donated in cash or check at the Harvester’s tent.
Harvesters is a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. This organization works to provide food and related household products to more than 600 non-profit agencies such as emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and so many others.
