Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi Opens Padre Plunge
2017 the Year of the Plunge
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi is welcoming a new ride this season called Padre Plunge, whose name is a tribute to the North Padre Island located in Corpus Christi.
Padre Plunge is a flume styled ride, meaning it is a deep narrow channeled water ride. The ride starts with a car chugging up a long incline, a soft wide turn, a pause, and then before you know it the car is making its way swiftly down and you’re soaked.
Each car can seat up to 15 people, which makes it a perfect ride for large parties. The cars all have a set of sensors that detect where the car is at all times of the ride – this is great because Padre Plunge is manually operated.
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi has Padre Plunge down to a science, which is why the length of a ride is exactly 60 seconds long. During the course of the ride the tallest point of the track is 49 feet tall, almost the same height as 196 Selena MAC collection lipsticks stacked on top each other.
Unlike any other ride in the waterpark, Padre Plunge requires guests to wear shoes during their ride.
In case you’re not ready to take the plunge, but you still want to make sure to get soaked while you’re spending the day at Schlitterbahn. Padre Plunge has a splash zone of about 20 feet that can keep you cool even during the hottest days of the summer.
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi is excited about this new addition to the waterpark and hopes you’ll take the Plunge this season.
