This year’s Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts American Heroes Week welcomed nearly 20,000 guests, recognizing the service of members of the military and first responders as well as their families. American Heroes visited Schlitterbahn Waterparks in Corpus Christi, Galveston, Kansas City, New Braunfels, and South Padre.
During American Heroes Week members of the military (active and retired) as well as first responders can visit any Schlitterbahn waterpark for free and their family members get in for half price.
All five parks had additional events in celebration of American Heroes week:
In Kansas City, over 8,000 flags were planted on May 25th by volunteers with the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation and left in place the entire week.
In South Padre, Leslie Blasing performed on Friday for all guests in celebration of their service.
In Corpus Christi, the Flour Bluff High School Marching Band performed on Saturday on the Freedom Stage.
In Galveston, discounts were available in all retail shops for American Heroes.
In New Braunfels, discounts were available for American Heroes for resort stays.
American Heroes Week was launched on Memorial Day and lasted five days at every Schlitterbahn Waterpark in 2016. This year the special event was extended to last seven days. Most military installations near Schlitterbahn carry discount tickets good all summer; for more information visit Schlitterbahn.com.
